In a desire to link aMute and the whole video chabang I've decided to direct a new video each month to get a long the album "Bending Time in Waves".
This month is a focus on the track I've reworked with Eric Craven (Hanged Up, Sackville, Drophead...) who was originaly written for a dance piece performed at the Stuk in Leuven.
Working with Eric is a true pleasure.
In 1999/2000 I saw Hanged Up playing live @ The Botanique and I was stuck by the way he was playing, the creativity behind his drum set, the feeling he gave to the whole thing. One thing that also blew me away it that his whole drum kit was ready to fall, as if everything was ephemere.
Anyway, for this work, Eric proved he could even write a very moving piece of music. And we worked together so well.
Birds, birds, birds...
If ever I see,
On bush or tree,
Young birds in a pretty nest,
I must not, in my play,
Steal the birds away,
To grieve their mother's breast.
My mother I know,
Would sorrow so,
Should I be stolen away--
So I'll speak to the birds,
In my softest words,
Nor hurt them in my play.
